Frequently Asked Questions

Why a focus on ACEs?

The Foundation is moving upstream to intervene before cycles of chronic diseases and poverty can be established. ACEs are linked to a slew of mental and physical health problems, as well as lower educational attainment, career opportunities, and lifetime earning potential.

By addressing ACEs, the Foundation is advancing AmeriHealth Caritas’ holistic approach to empower children to achieve resilience and their fullest potential. The focus on ACEs aligns with both the future growth of AmeriHealth Caritas as well as the priorities of its state customers.

Will the Foundation focus on certain states or cities?

The Foundation will consider funding opportunities with nonprofits operating nationally or within areas where the company will or may operate.

What is the grant funding process for the Foundation?

Any nonprofit seeking to work with the Foundation must complete an application and, if selected, sign a grant funding agreement. For more information around the grant application process, please contact info@amerihealthcaritasfoundation.org.

What are the components of a program the Foundation may fund?

The Foundation is looking to work with programs that:

  • Are mission and ACEs aligned;
  • Have replicable and scalable programs;
  • Can track and report outcomes;
  • Emphasize asset-based community development; and/or
  • Are able to integrate social networks.
